President Trump is pulling back funding For electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, they have begun phasing out the $7,500 federal tax incentive that reduces the cost of EVs. However, their supporters, including 80% of Republicans associated with the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement, believe the U.S. should keep EVs budget-friendly and enhance the nation’s charging network.
The bipartisan survey The study was carried out by polling companies Meeting Street Insights and Hart Research, and was sponsored collaboratively by policy groups Conservative Energy Network, Centerline Liberty, and Zero Emission Transportation Association (ZETA). These firms polled 1,015 registered voters across the country, with specific focus on 525 voters from 15 congressional districts—most of which lean Republican—that had previously obtained federal funds for establishing electric vehicle facilities during the previous Biden administration.
An impressive 80% of those identifying as Republicans, including eight out of every ten MAGA Republicans, stated that the United States should keep backing American businesses and employees involved in producing affordable electric vehicles. They prefer these job opportunities remain within the country rather than being outsourced to China. Approximately 62%, which equates to three out of every five participants, emphasized the importance of the U.S. taking the lead over China in electric vehicle production.

Furthermore, 77% of voters, with 63% being Republicans, endorse rebate programs aimed at making electric vehicle charger installations at residences or workplaces more budget-friendly.
Support for electric vehicles is notably robust in U.S. House districts that have been awarded federal funds for EV infrastructure development. Most of these districts are located within states that supported Donald Trump during the previous presidential election.
