During the forthcoming Auto Shanghai exhibition, Volkswagen Group revealed intentions to present three new concept vehicles tailored specifically for the Chinese market. Each of these designs is crafted exclusively for the company’s three domestic partnerships: FAW-Volkswagen, SAIC Volkswagen, and Volkswagen Anhui.
The unveiling of this concept car forms a key element of Volkswagen’s strategy to reinforce its position within the Chinese automotive sector. Every model presented will highlight distinct brand characteristics and address particular consumer preferences across various partnerships, blending customized styling elements with advanced technological features.
FAW-Volkswagen aims at functional styles tailored for young households, whereas SAIC Volkswagen intends to highlight upscale looks and an engaging allure. Meanwhile, Volkswagen Anhui plans to present tech-oriented, forward-looking design elements.
In 2024, Volkswagen unveiled their fresh design approach through the introduction of the ID. The CODE concept vehicle showcased a stylish outer appearance along with adaptable internal cabin areas. It also boasted Level 4 self-driving technology as well as an artificial intelligence-driven digital aide.
Stefan Mecha, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars China, stated, "The fresh China DNA merges classic aesthetics with contemporary technological advancements. This approach aims to cater to different consumer groups via tailored design expressions."
Through the unveiling of these three concept vehicles, Volkswagen intends to strengthen its local customer-focused approach and distinguish itself within China’s intensifying electric car marketplace.
