Rockford will help a westside restaurant fix its rooftop and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems using funds from the North Main and Auburn Tax Increment Financing District.
On Monday, the City Council unanimously agreed to approve a forgivable loan of up to $35,000 from the Tax Increment Financing (TIF) district. This will help cover half of the projected repair costs for Plume, an Italian eatery located at 1132 Auburn Street.
Todd Cagnoni, the City Administrator, mentioned that the funds will be provided as reimbursement after the completion of the project and will operate similar to a matching grant.
As successful rehabilitating the structure will help maintain the current eatery and related employment opportunities," Cagnoni stated in a memo. "Furthermore, the investor’s contribution to this initiative will enhance the local facilities.
