Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane performed a touching act when he stopped by the hospital to visit an ill supporter.

The 53-year-old carved out some time from their hectic timetable to unexpectedly visit dementia patient Pat O'Sullivan at Mercy Hospital Cork.

This follows when Pat's family first contacted Cork's. Red FM To ask for a video message for their father.

Rather than opting for a video, Keane took extra steps by traveling to Cork to personally meet with his supporter.

Rob O'Sullivan, Pat's son, stated: 'Roy Keane entered my father's hospital room and shook his hand. I am speechless.'

I have no idea what I anticipated from it all, and saying this much is the truth.

However, for him to make the trip, carving out time from his busy schedule, just to meet my father and exchange tales with him back and forth.

'You have absolutely no idea (how much that mattered). It still seems like a dream.'

When I saw him, I felt amazed. It was hard for me to grasp that he was actually there and ready to fulfill my father's aspirations.

Rob mentioned that his father's dementia has worsened since he met Keane, noting, "Dad shed tears twice; he completely grasped that Roy was present." He continued, stating, "Since our last conversation, Dad’s ability to speak has significantly declined."

'So the timing was perfect since he and Roy could actually have a bit of a conversation.

'Dad glanced at him, then fixated on him, utterly amazed that his idol was sitting right beside him.'

At the same time, the radio station praised Keane for the 'KINDGEST ACTION'.
